This tip comes from Jeff Yeager The Ultimate Cheapskate-take your dryer lint from your dryer and stuff it in an empty toilet paper roll cardboard tube and use it to lite your fireplace or wood stove. The dryer lint is very flammable and the cardboard tube helps to keep the fire going long enough to help get the wood started. It's a good way to use something that would normally go into the trash and landfill.
If you don't have a fireplace or wood stove dryer lint and the cardboard tubes can be composted. The tubes can also be used as craft projects, cut in half & filled with dirt for starting your vegetables inside before planting season, and more. Who knew that such simple everyday items would also help to save money. Use caution went using any flammable item.
